Faith Christian Academy currently offers three outstanding Band programs; Beginner Band, Concert Band, and Honors Band.

Beginner Band

Beginner Band is for instrumentalists with less than one year of experience and usually consists of 4th and 5th graders.  Beginner Band practices twice each week for one half hour, and each member must also participate in private or group band lessons.  He Beginner Band is also involved in several school programs throughout the year, and select members are able to participate in the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) Solo and Ensemble Contest in February of each year.  Members of the Beginner Band are also required to take individual or group lessons from a member of the FCA staff.

Concert Band

Concert Band is for instrumentalists who have one or more years of playing experience or for older beginners (grades 5-8) who successfully pass an audition.  Concert Band meets two to three times each week for forty minutes and participates in a variety of performing events throughout the school year.  Participation in the IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest each February is highly recommended for each Concert Band Member.  The Concert Band also competes as a group in mid-March at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) Instrumental Organizational Contest. To ensure that our students are fully prepared for all concert and contest events, members of the Concert Band are required to take individual or group lessons from a member of the FCA Staff.

Honors Band

Honors Band is one or more small instrumental ensemble(s) made of up the exceptional players of Concert Band.  Entrance is by teacher recommendation with an audition, and members generally must be in the sixth through eigth grade. This group meets one to two times weekly for one half hour, and members must maintain at lease a C grade point average and keep current with all classroom requirements.  Honors Band(s) perform(s) as a group for various school and outside functions, including all concerts, music parties, recitals, graduation, as well as competing as a group at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) Solo and Ensemble contest in February.
