FCA marched in the 58th Annual Swedish Days parade on June 24th. Students, alumni, parents, teachers and administrators all took part in the event, and had a great time representing FCA for many spectators that lined the streets of Geneva.
FCA Bug Camp!
FCA students got down-right buggy this summer at the FCA Summer Bug Camp! The FCA Bug Camp is a great opportunity for students to get better acquainted with the insect world. The program uses insects to inspire creative thinking through hands‑on, interactive, discovery‑based learning. Activities included collecting, identifying, curating insects that can be found in everyone's back yard. All of the activities engage students in independent discovery of His natural world so that their enthusiasm for science is strengthened.
Band at FCA !
Faith Christian Academy currently offers three outstanding Band programs; Beginner Band, Concert Band, and Honors Band. Beginner Band is for instrumentalists with less than one year of experience and usually consists of 4th and 5th graders. Concert Band is for instrumentalists who have one or more years of playing experience or for older beginners (grades 5-8) who successfully pass an audition, and Honors Band is one or more small instrumental ensemble(s) made of up the exceptional players of Concert Band.

The FCA Choir !
Faith Christian Choir is a performing choir consisting of students from grades 5 through 8. The choir meets for practice two to three times each week, and they participate in a variety of performances throughout the school year. Besides preparing for school programs and concerts, this group participates in the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) district choir contest in early March of selected years, as well as in a Broadway style musical every other year.
The Flying Falcon Book Club !
Our literature program has three basic goals; To strengthen your child's reading skills, to expand your student's knowledge of authors, illustrators and cultures, both historic and current, and to nurture a life-long love of learning and reading.
All Flying Falcons members will read, or have read to them a designated number of books during the summer months. All students who accomplish these requirements (or exceed them) will be distinguished as "Full-Fledged" members, and they will receive recognition from their teacher, recognition on their report card, a certificate from the Head-of-School, and a free Laser Tag session at Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center in Aurora, along with game-room credits and food coupons.
Students who accomplish at least half of the listed requirements will be distinguished as "Fledgling" members, and they will receive $5 in game-room credits and reduced price food and Laser Tag at Luigi's.
Students who achieve "Full-Fledged" membership status every year they attend Faith Christian Academy will have their names engraved on a plaque that will be displayed in the Academy's "Hall of Fame." In addition, all "Full-Fledged" and "Fledgling" members will have their name and photo placed in a permanent "Flying Falcons" scrapbook that will be displayed in the trophy case.
IMEA !
Congratulations to Bailey Hill, Hannah Bickford, Kathleen Clemens for their performance in the 2009 IMEA Honors Choral Concert. Congratulations to Maddie Will for performance in the 2009 IMEA Honors Band!
Proclaim!
Proclaim! Is a smaller singing group usually made up of select choir members from grades 6 through 8 and is designed to give a more advanced singing experience to those students who need a further musical challenge. Entrance into this group is by teacher recommendation, as well as by audition. This Group meets twice weekly for one half hour. Private voice lessons for participants, although not required, are highly recommended. Members of Proclaim! Must maintain at least a C grade point average and keep current with their classroom requirements. Proclaim! Competes as a group at the February Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) Solo and Ensemble Contest, as well as performing for all concerts, music parties, recitals, as well as graduation.
FCA Spelling Bee Winners...!
The ACSI Spelling Bee was held January 14th at Carol Stream Christian Academy. All participants did a great job competing against the other schools. Bryce Riner took first place in First Grade, Laine VandeHei took third place in Second Grade, and Emily Drake took second place in Sixth Grade. Emily also went on to compete in the afternoon spell-off between the first and second place winners in Fifth through Eighth Grade.
Speech at FCA
The ACSI Speech Meet was held March 5th at Calvary Christian School in Naperville. FCA sent 29 students to recite speeches which included Bible Memory, Poetry, Fable and Folklore, Patriotic Oration, and Dramatic Bible Prose. All the students did a wonderful job reciting their speeches and they all received a ribbon for their performance. Thirteen of the students received a superior ribbon which is the the highest award.
